Symmetric Mass Generation in Lattice Gauge Theory

چکیده
We construct a four-dimensional lattice gauge theory in which fermions acquire mass without breaking symmetries as result of interactions. Our model consists reduced staggered transforming the bifundamental representation an SU(2)×SU(2) symmetry. This fermion ensures that single-site bilinear terms vanish identically. A symmetric four-fermion operator is however allowed, and we give numerical results show condensate this develops vacuum.

Strongly coupled lattice gauge theory with dynamical fermion mass generation in three dimensions
We investigate the critical behaviour of a three-dimensional lattice χUφ3 model in the chiral limit. The model consists of a staggered fermion field, a U(1) gauge field (with coupling parameter β) and a complex scalar field (with hopping parameter κ). Two different methods are used: 1) fits of the chiral condensate and the mass of the neutral unconfined composite fermion to an equation of state...
متن کاملPseudoscalar Glueball Mass: QCD vs. Lattice Gauge Theory Prediction
We study whether the pseudoscalar glueball mass in full QCD can differ from the prediction of quenched lattice calculations. Using properties of the correlator of the vacuum topological susceptibility we derive an expression for the upper bound on the QCD glueball mass. We show that the QCD pseudoscalar glueball is lighter than the pure Yang-Mills theory glueball studied in quenched lattice cal...

Supercomputers have recently become a crucial tool for the quantum field the-orist. Applied to the formalism of lattice gauge theory, numerical simulations are providing fundamental quantitative information about the interactions of quarks, the fundamental constituents of those particles which experience nuclear interactions. Perhaps most strikingly, these simulations have provided convincing e...
متن کاملDynamical Mass Generation in a Finite-Temperature Abelian Gauge Theory
We write down the gap equation for the fermion self-energy in a finitetemperature abelian gauge theory in three dimensions. The instantaneous approximation is relaxed, momentum-dependent fermion and photon self-energies are considered, and the corresponding Schwinger-Dyson equation is solved numerically. The relation between the zero-momentum and zero-temperature fermion self-energy and the cri...
متن کاملLattice gauge theory: A retrospective
I am honored to have this opportunity to give the final talk at this wonderful meeting. I was originally asked to talk about “Lattice gauge theory: past, present, and future.” Well, I really don’t know much about the future, and if I did, I would be out trying to develop the ideas. As for the present, well you have for the last few days been hearing all about it, and there is too much for me to...
